![]() McAfee's web filtering database (TrustedSource), utilized by the WebAdvisor browser plugin is great and blocks probably 95%+ of the phishing and malicious links sent into my company. maybe less, based on my experience with it over the past couple of years. If I had to guess, I'd say 30% block rate. Site mis-categorizations galore and is useless when it comes to blocking phishing and malicious web links that come from SPAM emails. If Webroot's AV software uses the web filter database, I wouldn't touch it with a pole long enough to stretch continents. I have experience with a network security appliance that uses Webroot for its web filtering database. McAfee frequently has free TechTalk webinars to assist with this. In addition, if you're going to be using McAfee ePolicy for administration, there is a lot of great policy stuff that can be implemented to harden the machines (locking down application behaviour via access protection rules). There are a lot of exploit rules that need to be turned on that are off by default. ![]() Endpoint Security 10.5/10.6 (with the additional ATP module) is very good. Yes, some malware would get past their older (legacy) VirusScan 8.8 software using the base configuration. I've been a McAfee administrator for many years.
